Nienke Parma has been in the dog business for many years. In fact she used to write a regular doggie column in Citylife (then The Chiang Mai Newsletter) for nearly two years. Nienke helps people to train their dogs, teaches owners and pets how to communicate, helps with dogs various psychological problems and also puts them up in her doggie boarding house when owners are away.
She expressed her concern about the plight of Chiang Mai ,street dogs to her many esteemed, and dog loving, clients and found that her concern was shared by many. From 2003 Nienke and her clients and friends set up the Lucky Dog Club.
Looking at programmes in her own homeland of Holland as a guide, Nienke decided to use education as a tool to reach her ultimate goal, and that is of controlling the population of street dogs and cats, and trying to get each community to become responsible for the stray animals in their area.
